IA 2012 - Categories & Award Criteria
OUTSTANDING STARTUP BUSINESS
Geography:
The company is either based or has a division, department or other unit based in Greater Central Ohio. This division, department or other unit must have local employees and operations and cannot be limited to administrative functions or sales.
A majority of the work included in the submission should have been completed in central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
Growing company in business for less than 5 years
Has at least one product or service that is commercially available and installed past the beta stage
Can demonstrate the potential for continued growth and success

OUTSTANDING PRODUCT
(company with FEWER than 250 employees)
Geography:
The company is either based or has a division, department or other unit based in Greater Central Ohio. This division, department or other unit must have local employees and operations and cannot be limited to administrative functions or sales.
A majority of the work included in the submission should have been completed in central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
Company has designed, developed and produced a technology-based product
Through this product the company has shown success in addressing an industry need or market niche

OUTSTANDING PRODUCT
(company with MORE than 250 employees)
Geography:
The company is either based or has a division, department or other unit based in Greater Central Ohio. This division, department or other unit must have local employees and operations and cannot be limited to administrative functions or sales.
A majority of the work included in the submission should have been completed in central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
Company has designed, developed and produced a technology-based product
Through this product the company has shown success in addressing an industry need or market niche
IA 2012 - Categories & Award Criteria
CORPORATE INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR
(company with MORE than 5000 employees)
Geography:
The company is either based or has a division, department or other unit based in Greater Central Ohio. This division, department or other unit must have local employees and operations and cannot be limited to administrative functions or sales.
A majority of the work included in the submission should have been completed in central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
Employees at all geographic locations including those within and outside central Ohio number more than 5,000
An individual, team, organizational unit within a company that has had direct leadership and involvement in the innovative use of technology to: modify an existing product or service, develop and launch a new product or service, develop a new internal service, or significantly alter a business process that dramatically improves how an internal or external product or service is delivered in quantifiable terms.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE
(company with FEWER than 250 employees)
Geography:
The company is either based or has a division, department or other unit based in Greater Central Ohio. This division, department or other unit must have local employees and operations and cannot be limited to administrative functions or sales.
A majority of the work included in the submission should have been completed in central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
Company has defined, introduced and marketed a technology-based service.
Through this service the company has shown success in addressing an industry need or market niche.

Key Attributes:
Company has defined, introduced and marketed a technology-based service.
Through this service the company has shown success in addressing an industry need or market niche.

OUTSTANDING TECHNOLOGY TEAM
Geography:
The company is either based or has a division, department or other unit based in Greater Central Ohio. This division, department or other unit must have local employees and operations and cannot be limited to administrative functions or sales.
A majority of the work included in the submission should have been completed in central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
The team consists of 2 or more individuals, each from at least one company.
The team demonstrates successful implementation or development of a single innovative technology-based initiative or technological breakthrough.
The innovation(s) by the team should break with conventional processes and go beyond marginal improvements in existing products and services.
Nominees may include multi-disciplinary teams in an organization or corporation. Nominees may also be from two or more companies sharing the nomination.

INNOVATION IN NON-PROFIT SERVICE DELIVERY
Geography:
The company is either based or has a division, department or other unit based in Greater Central Ohio. This division, department or other unit must have local employees and operations and cannot be limited to administrative functions or sales.
A majority of the work included in the submission should have been completed in central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
Has an operating budget for its Greater Central Ohio activities of less than $50 MM
Qualifies for exemption from federal income taxes by virtue of meeting the requirements set forth in the Internal Revenue Code (actual federal tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3) or any other IRS provision is NOT required)
Has applied or implemented a technology or process change that has positively impacted the ability of the organization to provide services, such as, by measurably increasing the number of constituents served, by measurably increasing the extent to which one or more constituents has been served, by measurably increasing generation of funds through

GREEN INNOVATION
Geography:
The company is either based or has a division, department or other unit based in Greater Central Ohio. This division, department or other unit must have local employees and operations and cannot be limited to administrative functions or sales.
A majority of the work included in the submission should have been completed in central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
Company has developed a Green product or service that is commercially available and in production, and is in use with at least one customer/client; OR
Applied or implemented a technology or process change that has a net positive impact on the environment, such as, decreasing energy consumption as compared to conventional operations, decreasing regulated air or water emissions, decreasing solid-waste as compared to conventional operations, or some other environmentally significant described impact.

OUTSTANDING WOMAN IN TECHNOLOGY
Geography:
A woman who is employed or otherwise conducts her business in Greater Central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
A woman who demonstrates a commitment and dedication to technology.

(company with FEWER than 250 employees)
Geography:
An individual who is employed or otherwise conducts his/her business in Greater Central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
An executive (CEO, CIO, CTO, CFO, CLO, EVP, SVP, or President) who has achieved significant business success within the Qualification Period.

EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR
(company with MORE than 250 employees)
Geography:
An individual who is employed or otherwise conducts his/her business in Greater Central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
An executive (CEO, CIO, CTO, CFO, CLO, EVP, SVP, or President) who has achieved significant business success within the Qualification Period.

INVENTOR OF THE YEAR
Geography:
An individual who is employed or otherwise conducts his/her business in Greater Central Ohio.
Key Attributes:
An inventor who, by a single invention or multiple innovations, has created the greatest impact on technology through his, her or their innovation(s).
