As CIO and Director of the Department of Technology, Gary R. Cavin is responsible for technology management, acquisitions and integrations for the City of Columbus, with an operating budget of over $30 million. He manages and maintains infrastructure and data systems essential to the delivery of city services to residents and employees and which dramatically improve the overall efficiency of municipal government. He oversees daily operation functions of 140 multi-tier professionals citywide, over 200 critical business applications housed in two state-of-the-art data-centers, as well as the infrastructure used to deliver these applications including LAN/WAN/WIFI Network Services, server and storage banks, and telephony.
